A famous Polish journalist causes a dilemma for the powers-that-be when he participates in a television show with a panel of journalists asking questions about a world conference. On his absence, his opponents deny him rights. The shock of being "unwanted" mirrors a deeper personal disappointment: his wife has an affair with a jealous young rival and wants a divorce after 15 years and two daughters. She gives no explanations as he tries to solve the issues. His every move is wrong. After learning that his lecture has been postponed, he joins students anxious to attend. The previously suave and dominating journalist is silenced.
