The only witness to a terrible murder in a Philadelphia train station lavatory is a sheltered Amish youngster, and he must be protected. The task falls to a reticent detective who goes undercover in a Pennsylvania Dutch neighborhood. While living on the farm, he gradually adapts to rural life and develops feelings for the child's mother, despite his urban grit.
